The Akron Star Search is a singing competition that provides an opportunity for talented singers to showcase their skills and compete against others in the area. Here are some guidelines to ensure that participants have an enjoyable and respectful experience:
- Have Fun: The competition is about enjoying the experience and showcasing your talent. Participants are expected to maintain dignity and respect for others, regardless of the outcome. If you lose, handle it gracefully, and if you win, celebrate your achievement. Remember, you will be competing against other talented singers who believe they can win.
- Judging Criteria: Contestants will be evaluated on three main aspects of their performance: vocal ability, stage presence, and audience participation. The Akron Star Search is looking for the best singer, so make sure to bring your best game.
- Solo Performances Only: Only solo artists are eligible to participate in the competition. Duets, trios, and quartets are not eligible.
- Song Selection: Participants must choose two songs for each qualifying event. The first song will be your primary performance, and the second song will only be used as a tiebreaker.
- Respectful Environment: Qualifying venues and KimTam Park are designated as “NO ATTITUDE ZONES.” Participants are expected to respect the environment and behave in a manner that is suitable for all ages. Any disruptive behavior will not be tolerated and may result in disqualification.
- Equipment Care: Karaoke equipment is expensive, and participants are expected to handle it with care. Breaking equipment will result in disqualification and a forfeiture of any refund.
- Song Appropriateness: The appropriateness of the songs selected for performance will be determined by the establishment. Songs performed at KimTam Park, either during the qualifying events or the finals, must be suitable for all ages. The KJ will enforce this policy and will not approve any inappropriate music.
- Dress Code: Participants are encouraged to dress like entertainers and to make an effort to look professional. Wardrobe malfunctions or inappropriate attire will not be tolerated and may result in disqualification.
- Check-In and Registration: Participants must check in with the KJ and submit their song declaration upon arrival at the qualifying venue. No late registrations will be accepted, so make sure to arrive on time.
- Have Fun and Be Respectful: The competition is an opportunity to showcase your talent, have fun, and potentially make new friends. Participants are expected to respect the equipment, the venues, and each other. Keep it clean, and have a great time!
